farming

Farming is an integral part of cattle production. From winter grazing to crops for feeding to manure for fertilizer, farming is intertwined with cattle feeding. Additionally, our farms provide quality control over many of the important feed ingredients necessary to maintaining a quality beef product.

Texas Beef farms several thousand acres of prime irrigated corn acres where special varieties of high feeding value corn are harvested and sent to Texas Beef's corn pits. The feedyard operation can confidently depend on this high quality corn for a source of consistent feed.

Crop varieties and genetic footprints are valuable markers for desired feed values as well as holistic approaches to insect and weed control. The grain produced by Texas Beef on farms located in the immediate vicinity of the feedyard, are important contributors to the total company needs.
